How to Export Facebook Birthdays and Import Them Into Your CRM for a Strategic Birthday Action Plan
As referral agents, staying connected with clients, friends, and family is key to building and maintaining strong relationships. One of the easiest and most meaningful ways to connect is by remembering and celebrating birthdays. With a little tech-savvy organization, you can export birthdays from Facebook and import them into your CRM to create a powerful birthday action plan. Here’s how you can do it step by step:
Step 1: Export Birthdays from Facebook
Facebook used to provide a way to export birthdays, which is what I had done previously and planned to share with you all. However, they have since removed that option. No worries! I research the new and probably easier way to do it.
Download Chrome Extension: Go HERE to download the Google Chrome extension for FREE.
Run Extension: Once the extension is installed just login to Facebook on Google Chrome and run the extension
Export Birthdays: There are a few options including just adding to your Google calendar, which might be nice. I chose the option to export as a csv file so I can import the list to my CRM.
Step 2: Import Birthdays into Your CRM
Once you have the .csv file, you can import it into your CRM. Most CRMs have a straightforward process for importing contacts and adding key dates like birthdays. Here’s a general guide:
Open Your CRM: Log into your CRM platform.
Navigate to Import Contacts: Look for an "Import" option, often found in the settings or contacts section.
Upload the File: Upload the .csv file.
Map the Fields: During the import process, ensure the fields from your file (like Name and Date) are mapped correctly to the corresponding fields in your CRM.
Complete the Import: Finalize the process and review the imported data for accuracy.
Step 3: Set Up Your Birthday Action Plan
Now that your birthdays are in your CRM, you can create an action plan to ensure you never miss a chance to celebrate your contacts’ special days.
Automate a Birthday Email:
Use your CRM’s automation features to schedule a friendly and personalized birthday email. This shows your thoughtfulness without requiring extra effort.
Create a Task Reminder:
Set up a task or notification to remind you to reach out personally on their birthday. A simple text, call, or social media message can go a long way. I prefer a text message because everyone gets flooded with messages on Facebook on their big day and I’d rather my message stand out a little.
Family Birthdays:
Don’t forget to add family birthdays (like nieces and nephews) to your CRM. This is a convenient way to keep personal relationships organized and show you care. It’s been hard for me to keep tack of them all in the past, but not anymore! I’ve even got a smart list setup to show me all birthdays in my CRM coming up in the next two weeks!
Why This Matters
Having an organized birthday system allows you to:
Strengthen personal and professional connections.
Stay top-of-mind with your sphere of influence.
Show that you genuinely care, which is invaluable in relationship-based industries like real estate.
By integrating Facebook’s birthday data into your CRM and leveraging automation, you can turn a simple gesture into a powerful relationship-building tool. Give it a try and see how impactful remembering birthdays can be for your business and personal life!
Archive of Previous Month’s Tips
In January, I started sending out a monthly email to high-producing real estate agents across the country, agents I’ve connected with at various points. My goal was simple: keep our connection strong without sending the typical local market updates that might not be relevant. Instead, I wanted to share something valuable each month that has helped my business and could potentially benefit yours, too.
A few months ago, I realized it would be helpful to make previous tips easily accessible, especially for new agents I’ve added to the list. That’s why I’ve transitioned from a traditional email to a newsletter format, where you can now find an archive of all the tips I’ve shared since January. You can access the archive HERE.
